If you want to make a couple of shorter Cat cables longer WITHOUT the expense of buying a longer cable, AND you want some "future-proofing", you are in the right place. I am fortunate to have both AT&T and Comcast fiber in my neighborhood so neither can get by with endless bill creep (and trust me, each one of them plays that game). I am perfectly happy with my 1Gbps rated speed and see no need to pay for higher (other than bragging). I decided to test each of these pass-through couplers. I used a secondary Core I7 PC that is hard-wired to my gateway. I tested the download and upload speed with the Cat 5e cable that it is connected with. The download speed was 931.41Gbps and the upload was 930.02Gbps. I disconnected the cable from the PC, hooked it to the first coupler. I then hooked a 15ft. CAT8 cable to the other end of the coupler and hooked that cable to the PC. I ran the speed test again and got 930.78Gbps download and 930.08Gbps upload. I repeated these steps with the second coupler and got 928.12Gbps download and 929.68Gbps upload. I then re-connected the original CAT5e cable to the PC, ran the test again and got 927.65Gbps download and 931.76Gbps upload. There is always going to be some variance there from test to test due to variances in network traffic and variances in my own house where multiple devices are connected AND pulling bandwidth. Overall, these two couplers are outstanding, and they deliver what they promise. I will probably not live long enough to outlast their usefulness.

Having a stable connection over longer distances was a game changer, especially since my router is quite far from my workspace.

I needed to extend my network connection to a spot that was just out of reach, and these couplers handled it without a hitch. The 10Gbps support is impressive, and I haven't noticed any drop in speed or signal quality.
The PoE support is a nice bonus, especially if you're working with devices that rely on it. They feel well-built and sturdy, and the connection is solid. I also like that they are compatible with all my existing Ethernet cables.

First off, these come packaged in plastic and arrived in good condition. The units are small. Smaller than some of the older CAT5 couplers I've used in the past. When connecting the RJ45 they click in solid and have virtually no movement.
I ran tests up to 2.5 gb as that's the fastest I currently have in my home network. I saw no slowdown with these attached vs a single cable run that I also tested. Results were around 2.3-2.4 gbps, which is about right for a 2.5 nic.
Overall very pleased with these. I only needed one so far, but I've got a spare if/when I need another high-speed coupler.
